English to Italian: A1 patterns
Practice one useful pattern.

New pattern
Italian: calling for help with “Aiuto!”
“Aiuto!” calls for urgent help; add what you need next.
Ready to start.
Call for help and ask someone to call an ambulance.
How this works
Aiuto! gets attention in an emergency. Chiami is a polite singular instruction: “call.” Put the service you need immediately after it.
Build it piece by piece
- Aiuto!
- Help!
- Chiami
- Call (polite)
- un’ambulanza
- an ambulance
- la polizia
- the police
Una becomes un’ before the vowel in ambulanza.
Worked example
Now ask someone to call the police instead.
Aiuto! Chiami la polizia, per favore.
Compare this with the model above. Notice what stayed the same and what changed. Read both aloud before continuing; this part is for learning, not scoring.
