English to Italian: A1 patterns
Practice one useful pattern.

New pattern
Italian: requesting the bill
A short service request becomes polite with “per favore.”
Ready to start.
Ask for the bill politely in Italian.
How this works
Il conto names the restaurant bill. Per favore is enough to make this short request polite. For a payment method, use vorrei + pagare (to pay).
Build it piece by piece
- Il conto
- The bill
- per favore
- please
- pagare
- to pay
- con la carta
- by card
Vorrei can be followed by an item or an infinitive action.
Worked example
You have the bill; say that you would like to pay by card.
Vorrei pagare con la carta, per favore.
Compare this with the model above. Notice what stayed the same and what changed. Read both aloud before continuing; this part is for learning, not scoring.
